It’s always such a full-circle moment when past connections lead to new sessions — and this one was extra special. I had the absolute joy of photographing Peyton and McKenzie, twin sisters getting ready to step into their senior year.
Their mom, Andrea, has actually been my hairdresser since I moved to Cincinnati. We first connected through my mother-in-law, who’s lived here for years. One of the wildest and most wonderful parts of running a small business is how word-of-mouth travels — what started as a branding session for Andrea turned into senior portraits for her daughters several years later.
As a photographer who works closely with other business owners, I love the chance to trade services when it’s a natural fit. It’s such a great way to showcase and support each other’s work. I needed a little touch-up on my hair, and Andrea needed senior portraits for her girls — the trade worked out perfectly. Some of my best clients over the years have been fellow business owners whose work I also admire and use myself.
Peyton and McKenzie are fraternal twins and total opposites in the best way — each with her own vibe, energy, and style. As a fraternal twin myself, I felt an immediate connection to them. I know how important it is to celebrate individuality, and we made sure each girl had her moment to shine without ever dimming the light of the other. They’re so supportive of one another and have such a sweet bond — it made photographing them a dream.
We started in-studio to get those classic, polished shots with clean backgrounds and natural posing, then headed to Sharon Woods for a more laid-back outdoor vibe. The light, the laughter, the outfits — it all came together beautifully.
These two are also part of my Senior Referral Program, which means for every client they refer, they’ll receive a little something from me. It’s a great way for seniors to help grow my business while earning rewards — and I love giving students a reason to share their experience.
Andrea always speaks so highly of her daughters during our salon chats, and after spending the afternoon with them, I totally get why. They’re smart, kind, and driven — and they made this session so fun from beginning to end.
Peyton, McKenzie — thank you for trusting me with your senior photos. I’m so excited to watch where life takes you next!
