Giving Photos to Strangers: One Small Act of Kindness That Keeps Giving
(featuring Laura & Johnny along with their joyful energy)
Last spring, I decided to do something simple: offer free photos to strangers. No catch. No sales pitch. Just me, my camera, and a desire to spread a little joy.
It started as a way to connect during a season when so many people were craving something meaningful. What I didn’t expect was how much I would gain from it — beautiful moments, new clients, portfolio growth, and a deep sense of gratitude for the people who stepped in front of my lens.
This year, I brought it back. And I met them.
Laura and her partner showed up with the cutest picnic setup — cozy, romantic, and perfectly “them.” But it wasn’t the props that caught my attention. It was Laura. Her energy was absolutely contagious. She radiated joy and light and laughter. The way they moved, held hands, and laughed freely… it was everything I love about capturing real people, in real moments.
Sometimes, the best sessions aren’t the ones planned weeks in advance or styled to perfection. Sometimes, it’s just two people in love, a little bit of sunshine, and a photographer lucky enough to witness it.
Giving back with my camera is one of the most rewarding things I do. And while it’s a gift for others, it always ends up feeling like a gift for me too.
To those who’ve stepped in front of my lens — thank you for trusting me, even if just for a few minutes.
And to anyone thinking about booking a session, whether it’s branding, weddings, families, or something more personal — my camera’s ready, and I’d love to meet you.
